Klaus Pubnaz has claimed this years title of World Christmas Tree Throwing Champion.
He managed to throw a 1,5 meter Christmas tree over 12 meters distance in the competition.
The competition is based on old lumberjack traditions which date back centuries.
‘I think it comes from the woodsmen of old who would compete over who could throw their trees closer to the stackers so their work would get sold first,’ said Klaus.
Unlike the Scottich caber competitions, Christmas tree throwing involves an overhanded throwing technique.
Last years competition was won by 22-year-old Tobias Herzberg – a former javelin thrower. He hurled the 1,5 meter-long pine tree a distance of 11,7 meters.
The unofficial world record of 17.40 meters set two years ago by a man from Wittenberge.
