Some residents from Clifton, New Jersey, feared that a statue of Jesus had been stolen from alongside the eastbound Route 3 highway.
Their fears were allayed after a monk from the Holy Face Monastery said that it was actually moved to a “safer and more dignified” location.
The monastery actually had the statue moved further from the highway, where it can be seen only by westbound motorists.
The monk, who asked not to be named, said the new location is a “safer and more dignified place” for the statue.
“The finger has been broken (and) the hand has been broken,” he said.
The monk said the move was approved by all of the monastery’s monks and authorities in Rome.
In 2006, the son of Chongqing City Kai County Fengle Street Huangling Village resident Tian Xueming passed away from leukemia.
Tian Xueming stored his son’s body in the freezer, and 6 years have passed.
Every time he misses [his son], Tian Xueming and his wife will quietly go, with their arms around each other, stand beside the freezer, look blankly for a moment, and then leave.
Tian Xueming says his son “in the freezer looks exactly as he did when he was alive. My son is still with me, and has never left.”
15 years ago, Tian Xueming’s 15-year-old daughter passed away from heatstroke. 6 years ago, his son also departed from the living due to leukemia.
Tian Xueming and his wife experienced the pain of two funerals within a 10 year span.
Gazing at the lonely freezer placed in the corner, Tian Xueming shed tears, “this may be wrong, but the pain of two funerals, my pain, it’s something others can’t understand.”
The latest internet star is a cross-eyed cat called Spangles with a penchant for dressing up.
Spangles is picking up hordes of fans after owner Mary Buchanan posted a picture of him in a pirate costume online.
Now the three-year-old feline has his own Facebook fan page where 5,000 followers eagerly await new pictures.
So far, he has also been pictured wearing a frog outfit, dressed as a tiger and even posing as a unicorn.
Ms Buchanan, 25, a college student from Spartanburg, South Carolina, adopted the cat from a neighbour when he was five months old.
She said: “Spangles was born on July 4, so with the Star-Spangled Banner that’s how I got his name.
“He was born with one cross eye, but he’s never had problems walking or anything.
“He’s a total Mama’s boy. He will pose for me, and let me know when he’s in a glamorous mood.”
